Welcome to Hades by JennieLuv Welcome to Hades by JennieLuv
This is another entry for Elysianskies fashion design contest.

1. Choose a mythological/magical creature as your theme and write or link a short description in your artist comments.
2. Design a costume for the carnival in Venice for a woman, pay attention to detail and go as crazy and creative as you like/can. (play with shapes and structures)
3.Design a mask, fitting your theme and also pay attention to the hair/hat
4. Must be a colored piece!

This one is inspired by Cerberus.
A little detail about Cerberus:
Cerberus (Greek: Κέρβερος, Kérberos) in Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed dog which guards the gates of Hades, to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping.

The common depiction of Cerberus in Greek mythology and art is as having three heads, a mane of live serpents (similar to Medusa's hair) and a dragon's tail. In most works the three-heads each respectively see and represent the past, the present, and the future, while other sources suggest the heads represent birth, youth, and old age. Each of Cerberus' heads is said to have an appetite only for live meat and thus allow the spirits of the dead to freely enter the underworld, but allow none to leave.Cerberus was always employed as Hades' loyal watchdog, and guarded the gates that granted access and exit to the underworld (also called Hades).

In short, Cerberus is one hell of a dog.

I chose the Black and Purple colours for this costume. The Deep purple bodysuit was made from velvet, the skirt, I really don't know the name of the cloth(I'm sorry..I'm such an amateur -_-) but it's similar to Tutu Skirt and the boots were accentuated with resin claws.

The open cape is a symbol for everyone to enter Hades
But the clinging tail on the left thigh is a sign that she will not let you out. XD

The golden claws on her hands were inspired by the video game 'Dirge of Cerberus'..Yep...worn by Vincent Valentine. :D

Hopefully it's not too scary for you to look at...

Tulle... the skirt would be made from tulle. Love the collar and the headress! Very cool design... mind you velvet bodysuit would suck in any kind of heat or moisture... well one must suffer for fashion!

I really like the concept of this one!
You translated your creature very well into the outfit and I love the little details that represent Cerberus.
It's a dark outfit, rich and elegant. Very fitting for the carnival.
I also like the shape of the skirt part it definitely stands out!
The gold claws was a very nice touch as well!
Out of the two designs I probably would go for this one since I think it's just a bit more creative and well thought through. :)

Ok, I think I will go with this submission too.The medusa was pretty easy because I already had the plan in mind, but this one..Hoo boy...I've re-drawn this for like 7 times to get it just like what I wanted XD.

Hehe.. the concepts that challenge us are the really good ones most of the time ;)
7 times is a lot, but it certainly paid off!
Did I mention that I really love the dog head shoulder pieces? Such a great touch!!
